Steve Teare is a Philadelphia-based illustrator and art teacher. His work has appeared in VICE, Philadelphia City Paper, WHYY, and Apiary Magazine. He has worked with children of all ages and has taught numerous comic book-based workshops. He has illustrated several children's books, and is the writer and artist of the comic books "Back and Forth" and "The Spider Grandmother."

I have been teaching in the Philadelphia area since 2008. It has permanently changed my life in profound ways. I have since involved myself in many other pursuits that sit outside of education, but all things in my life have been influenced by the lessons learned working in a classroom.Teaching energizes my creative pursuits and vice versa, and the obviously important work of being of service to young people and their community gives one a feeling of belonging. I've been fortunate to serve a small school like Lansdowne Friends; a place that values diversity, creativity, and expression. To be part of such a spiritually healthy and tight knit community is a joy and a privilege.
