Where do students go after Lansdowne Friends School?
Students go to a variety of schools after graduating from Lansdowne Friends School. Many students apply to other Friends schools or to the many independent schools in the area, and some students continue their education in public or parochial schools. We begin working with 6th grade parents in September to help them find a good match for their student and to get them started with the admissions process.
Just a note to express my gratitude for what you instilled in my children -- values, love & goodness. I think you run a pretty impressive school! ... I wish I had attended a Friends school.

This small school has done a big thing in getting our daughter academically and socially ready to go on to achieve her goals. Thanks for a job well done. One child down, two to go!!

Dear Tr. Deb,
I thought you might be interested in how [my daughter] fared her first year away from LFS. After a minor transition period (Mom, they talk to us like we’re infants!) she settled in quite nicely at [a] Middle School. She joined Lego League which is the Middle school branch of the FIRST Robotics program. She was then invited to participate in the Sally Ride Toy Competition, because of her outstanding science scores, and her team went to the finals in San Diego. She ended up being designated team artist and designed their logos and displays. She came in third in the school spelling bee and also came in third in the 7th grade in the Pennsylvania Mathematics League Competition.
Showing more of her artistic side, she performed in what must have been the largest middle school production ever - over 200 kids in their version of High School Musical. Anyone who signed up got in - the closest thing I've seen to a Friends School attitude all year! She wrote a hilarious spoof on Peter Pan for the 7th grade camping trip skit night. We just got word today that she has been accepted into the Philadelphia Young Playwrights program through the school. A full year of intensive language arts study with a working playwright. They only take 25 8th graders a year at her school, so this feel like a very special opportunity!
Thanks so much for all of your work in helping her be prepared for this year. She has clearly transitioned beautifully and I know that a lot of her success can be attributed to your thoughtful teaching. She started the school year feeling confident and most certainly ended it feeling successful. So if you ever had any doubts about how well prepared your students are, then think on my daughter!
